Galerie Burster will be showing “Judas’ Mystery“, a solo show by the Italian artist Paolo Maggis in Berlin. In this new series the artist explores the boundaries between good and bad and examines the secret that allows them to coexist.

Paolo Maggis’ work, which can be described as being both gestural and figurative, adheres to the Italian tradition concerning the aesthetic use of colour and composition. However, the thematic references and colour palettes in his work are subjected to continuous development in order to provide a 360-degree view of the society that surrounds it. Maggis’ large-scale works have a strong emotional effect and unsettle the viewer with the intention of drawing their thoughts away from the general and back to the core essence of the human being.

Born in Milan in 1978, Paolo Maggis was hailed as a great success both by the public and critics early on in his career and has quickly found his place in objective painting. In 2005 he went to Berlin where he lived and worked for two years. His work is being simultaneously exhibited in Germany and Italy, in public spaces as well as museums and galleries.

In 2008 he moved to Barcelona where he still lives and works.
